We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator in our Columbus, OH office location.  The ideal candidate will prove and/or coordinate all aspects of estimating services for electrical project estimates

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid and project site meetings to determine full project scope and estimate requirements.
  • Manage the electrical estimating process from start to finish, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of all estimates and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare complex electrical estimates using Company estimating systems, established procedures, and sound judgment, with minimal supervision.
  • Compile, maintain, and analyze historical cost data, and monitor completed projects to improve estimating accuracy and cost forecasting.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and analyze pricing from vendors and subcontractors, maintain vendor databases, and prepare prequalification documentation as required.
  • Review estimating assumptions to ensure alignment with Company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Prepare schedules, value engineering options, and cost-saving initiatives to support competitive and accurate bids.
  • Support business development efforts by communicating with clients, engineers, and architects, presenting estimates, and participating in negotiations as needed.
  • Prepare detailed cost budgets, change order pricing, and estimating documentation to support project turnover and post-award execution.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to estimating staff, identify areas for improvement, and assist with team development.
  • Perform additional estimating or related duties as assigned by Sargent Electric Management.

SKILLS:

  • A minimum of a four year electrical engineering degree or equivalent is preferred as well as 5 years’ electrical estimating and construction experience in related industries. 
  • A demonstrated knowledge of electrical estimating techniques, engineering disciplines, and computer/cost control/budget systems is also necessary as well as the ability to interpret computerized cost data. 
  • Must be able to prepare complex estimates with minimal supervision. 
  • The position requires someone who is detailed oriented, analytical, organized, is able to meet established deadlines, has strong management and communication skills, and works well in pressure-type situations. 
  • Project field experience is also preferred.
